“Absolutely worth mentioning was Norina, by Eduarda Melo, a strong-willed character and impetuous as she pleases. Still in the beginning of her career, the soprano has an agile voice and a sweet timbre, mastering the coloraturas Norina demands. Her performance was quite clear and audible: Norina knows what she wants and what she should do to reach her goals. The rest of the opera is irony in the light of that concept: Eduarda Melo knew extremely well how to reach the audience, revealing an outstanding progression in the personality of “Sofronia”.
